Speaker Bio: Michael W. Dean

Michael W. Dean is the author of five books, and has written for Make Magazine. His book "$30 Film School" is recommended reading at many colleges. Michael's lectured on DIY art in 45 US cities and in 7 countries, including engagements at universities, the Maker Faire, and the Portland Zine Fest. Michael directed the films "Hubert Selby Jr: It/ll Be Better Tomorrow" and "D.I.Y. OR DIE: How to Survive as an Independent Artist."

He sang in the band BOMB (Warner Brothers), and has been sharing episodic spoken MP3s on the Internet since 1997. He has been interviewed on NPR, the BBC, and has been lauded in Variety Magazine and on VH1. Michael runs Casa DeLlama recording studio (www.casadellama.com) and does 2 podcasts, "Clone The Homeless" (www.clonethehomeless.com) and an original music cast called "Deal Machine" (www.dealmachine.org). Michael has a provisional patent on the Deal Machine methodology.
